What is Virtual Web Hosting?

Do you offer web page design services?

No, however, there are many web publishing companies as well as experienced independent contractors that use IQS as their premier web-hosting provider. We would happy to refer you to them.

What is the difference between Non-Virtual and Virtual web hosting??

The main difference between non-virtual and virtual hosting is the address used to access the web site. A non-virtual web site uses the domain of the host followed by your account's username, an example of a non-virtual web site address is: http://www.webstorage.com/~classic. A Virtual web site has its own domain name for an address, such as http://www.YOURSITE.com/.

Can I upgrade from a non-virtual to a virtual account?

Yes, you can upgrade from a non-virtual hosting account to a virtual hosting account at any time. There is a $30 fee for the switch, which covers our filing for your domain name, and the conversion of your account. The switchover does not involve creating a new account, so there will be no need to re-upload your files, and after the switch, your old non-virtual address will continue to work so there will be no need to change any old links.

How do I transfer files to my web site?

Files must be transferred to the web server via File Transfer Protocol (FTP). There are many FTP programs available for both PC and Macintosh. For the PC we recommend WS_FTP and for the Macintosh we recommend Fetch. In addition, Internet providers such as AOL, CompuServe, and Prodigy may have built-in FTP interfaces.

Will I have unlimited access to my pages?

Yes, you will have unlimited access via FTP 24-hours a day, 7 days a week, so that you may update your web site and account features at your leisure.

Can I use my account for commercial purposes?

Yes, the internet has become a very powerful tool for commerce, and as such, it is okay to use your account for commercial purposes. To facilitate your commercial endeavors, your account will include access to a secure server which will provide a secure environment to transfer such information as credit card numbers from the browser to your web site in an encrypted mode.

Can I resell space within my own account?

Yes, however you will be responsible for its content. There are many methods available for reselling space in your account. First, you may create directories in your web site, and maintain the content for your customers with an address such as: http://www.YOURSITE.com/customer at no additional cost. Additional FTP accounts, and additional domains are also available as part of our reseller support. We have an entire page dedicated to our reseller program that you can visit for more information.

Do you accept international orders?

Yes, we are proud to be currently hosting web sites in over 25 different countries (and the numbers are growing monthly). It is also possible for us to host your non-US domains (i.e. bangkokpost.co.th). For overseas orders we accept Credit Cards, and Bank Wire-Transfer of funds (in minimum 3 month terms, $10 service charge) in US currency.

Do you offer technical support?

At IQS we place emphasis on customer support. Our technical support staff will be happy to assist you with timely and informative answers to your questions.

How long does it take to set up a new account?

Orders submitted before 4pm PST on a week day which include payment information will be processed the same day! Once an account is set up, an activation notice will be sent to you via email which includes all account information. You may begin to upload your files immediately upon receiving this activation notice. Domain accounts may use their dedicated IP number to access their site via the web while their domain registration/transfer is pending.

In summary, We do not accept any sites with adult content or that are adult/related in any way. We also do not accept any Warez sites, or sites that distribute, or give information regarding software piracy, hacking, phreaking, etc.

Is 10,000MB/month of data transfer going to be enough to support My Web Site?

10 Gigabytes (10,000MB/mo) is a lot of bandwidth! Research, backed by our own personal experience with thousands of websites currently being hosted at IQS, show that most web-sites (over 99% of our current customer base) do not exceed 2,000MB/mo data transfer, (that's only 1/5 of what what's included).

With the average size of a web page being only 20k bytes, 10gb translates to 500,000 hits per month!

In order for you to keep good track of your utilization, daily statistics are automatically compiled and stored in your account each evening (PST).
